Mfuwe Lodge

Lodge style A blend of style and luxury

Satisfy your senses

Located just inside South Luangwa National Park, less than an hour drive from Mfuwe International Airport, you’ll be amazed at the ‘deep in the bush’ feeling of Mfuwe Lodge. As soon as you arrive you’ll understand why it has been voted Best Lodge in Zambia. Combine the view of the two lagoons and the incredible wildlife with delicious meals followed by a pampering massage at the Bush Spa, and your trip to Africa couldn’t get any better. Each of the chalets includes a private deck for you to use as your own wildlife viewing perch, best appreciated with a favorite cocktail in your hand, perhaps, as the sun sets on the horizon. Breathe deep in the airy, open plan of the central lodge, with dining and bar areas for you to enjoy with your travel companion, or enjoy a relaxing solo swim in the spacious pool. When you’re ready for adventure, there are game drives and guided walks to suit every desire, led by incredibly knowledgable and welcoming guides. If you’re looking to wind down from an exciting day of hippos and elephants, you can choose a book and settle in a comfortable spot in the library. Whatever you decide to do with your time, at Mfuwe Lodge every choice is the right one.

There are eighteen thatched chalets on wooden decks; two suites, three family rooms, three double rooms, and ten twin rooms. Each chalet is equipped with en-suite shower, twin basins and WC, and a comfortable sitting area. The suites’ king sized beds and en-suite bathtubs add an extra level of indulgence to these luxurious accommodations. Set beneath a canopy of ebony and mahogany trees, the charming wood and textile decor of the lodge’s interiors pays homage to the splendor of the natural world outside. And if it’s nature you’re interested in, you’ve come to the right place. Where else can you sit in the lobby and watch a small herd of elephants parade on the tile floors, marching past you to reach the Wild Mango tree inside the lodge grounds? Your friends at home won’t believe how close you came to these magnificent creatures on their way to a snack of fallen fruit. If you need to rejuvenate your mind and pamper your body, visit the peaceful sanctuary of the Mfuwe Lodge’s BushSpa for a Zambian reflexology foot massage, or a heavenly herbal Jacuzzi soak while you enjoy panoramic views of the wildlife-rich lagoon and a refreshing herbal beverage. When it’s time to share a meal, you’ll be treated to delicious culinary experiences like a lovely bush breakfast laid out under a leafy glade overlooking the water. At Mfuwe, they excite all of your senses for an incredibly rich Africa experience.

Tripadvisor comments Mfuwe Lodge

Mfuwe Lodge is a perfect staging post for your foray into this amazing national park. Extremely smart and comfortable, with delicious abundant food, and a great introduction to the stunning Bushcamp Co hospitality, led by the lovely Amy. A great base for game drives in its own right, if you can drag yourself away from watching the antics of the resident hippos!

My absolute favourite part had to be the early mornings... my day always starts with a yoga sequence and this didn’t change in the bush. As I sat in lotus position on the wooded balcony of my chalet preparing for the sun salutation, my eyes were greeted by the site of a herd of elephant walking across the dry riverbed, newborn calf in tow. Watching the sunrise and listening to the sounds of the animals and the birds chirping away was both a mesmerising and unforgettable experience.
