Three Rivers Camp

Lodge style Stylish comfort

Elegant seclusion

Set at a confluence of the Luangwa, Kapamba, and Lusangazi Rivers in the untouched wilderness of South Luangwa National Park, Three Rivers Bush Camp, (which opened in June 2017) is a stylish and cozy retreat from the outside world. This solar powered camp rests under a canopy of mature sausage trees, with tents that face open plains around either the impressive Luangwa River or spectacular game-rich lagoons. Here you’re likely to find plenty of elephants, giraffes, waterbucks wandering about this amazing location.

This intimate camp has just five spacious, elegant tents, each built on elevated platforms to provide exceptional views of the surrounding area’s busy wildlife. The tents are decorated with elegant, uncluttered furnishings, and natural materials that retain their earthy hues, which create a tranquil space for you to rest after your day’s adventures. The large gauzed windows allow for uninterrupted views of the ever-changing outdoor scenery, and the draped mosquito netting ensures your evening comfort. With en-suite bathrooms that are equipped with a luxurious indoor and outdoor shower option, as well as double sinks and flush WC, you’ll feel pampered by the classic charm of your lovely home away from home. And when you want to relax and just take it all in, all you have to do is cozy into a comfy chair on your private deck and take in the twinkling blanket of stars above.

Meals at Three Rivers Camp offer a unique dining experience, served on a beautifully set table in an open-air dining lounge that is discreetly situated on the banks of the river. Keep your camera handy, because you’ll want to take a few snaps of the wallowing hippos and snapping crocodiles that frequent the river banks, not to mention African Skimmers and colorful bee-eaters. With scrumptious brunch buffets, afternoon cakes or biscuits, and candlelit dinners to satisfy you in between an abundance of delicious snacks and morning tea, you’ll never find yourself without something wonderful to nibble on. To quench your thirst you can also visit the welcoming, well stocked bar for a cocktail, and enjoy conversation with your fellow travelers. And after dinner you’ll want to settle in at the fireplace and listen to lions roaring in the distance.

Activities at Three Rivers Camp

If you really want to enjoy the terrain and wildlife of Three Rivers Bush Camp, we recommend you select their walking safari. They offer game drives in the morning, and short drives in the evening before dinner, and they’re a wonderfully exciting way to cover quite a bit of ground in a short time. But the walking safari provides an incredibly intimate view of the landscape, the amazing animals (large and small), and information about the unique African ecosystems. South Luangwa National Park is host to an amazing, diverse group of animals, and you’ll want to see them all. You may spot the elusive roan antelope, lions, leopards, and wild dogs along with the more common big game. Don’t leave your binoculars at home!

Tripadvisor comments Three Rivers Camp

What an amazing place. One of the best places I've ever been in Africa. Driven from Kafunta lodge by the wonderful Martin who was my guide for the 4 days. Absolutely hilarious and so knowledgeable. First approach to the lodge was rather exciting as a particularly large elephant took exception to us using his road! Martin was so respectful of the elephant so we made it through safely. Lovely welcome from Dave the new manager who gave a great summary of the lodge and area. Beautiful tented camp with luxurious bed and facilities. Wasn't expecting any power but solar system worked really well so able to recharge phone and camera batteries. I was shown the star bed which is on a platform so you can sleep under the stars which I did for 3 of my 4 nights. Totally worth doing. In fact I had the best sleep in years.

Our 2 nights at Three Rivers with our family is an experience that we will never forget! The walking safari was truly exceptional and very educational, and exhilarating. The food, the service, the morning camp fire breakfasts, and the elephants in our camp - all amazing! Thank you all for a great experience!
