Zungulila Bushcamp
Lodge style Authentic bushcamp luxury
Grande rustic style
Located in the remote, southern part of the South Luangwa National Park, Zungulila Camp is a rare gem nestled deep in the bush. Situated on a tranquil bend of the Kapamba River, Zungulila overlooks the game-rich plains in an untouched area of the park, making this bush camp an ideal spot for spectacular wildlife sightings. With a special focus on walking safaris, the guides here are expert-level and lead phenomenal trips into the wilderness, by foot or in a vehicle. And returning to this well-appointed, luxurious camp is nearly as exciting as leaving it.
Known for its intimate and serene atmosphere, the camp is limited to a maximum of eight guests. Unpack your bags and settle in to the peaceful accommodations of one of Zungulila’s four classic Meru-style tents, conveniently shaded under an impressive thatched roof and decorated with warm, handsome textiles and beautiful wood furniture. With two queen bed and two king bed options, you’ll find the four poster beds are as comfortable as they are gorgeous. Each tent has en-suite facilities with complimentary toiletries, hot and cold running water, and incredible outdoor sink and shower (perfectly secluded for your privacy). Dry off on your tent’s private bamboo verandah after a dip in your own sunken plunge pool, or relax in your outdoor chaise lounge with a sundowner before dinner. This is your vacation; you can do both! And no matter where you are in your tent - or just outside of it - keep an eye on the wildlife peeking around trees and wandering on nearby paths. Here, in an open camp in the deep bush, you never know what you might see: elephant, lion, monkey, giraffe, an assortment of birds...and so much more.
Zungulila strives to embody that bygone era of authentic, classic Africa safaris. The meticulously designed central dining area, lounge and bar, plus sunken deck with boma, offer incredible open views over the Kapamba River and Muchinga Escarpment. Without even leaving camp, you’re sure to see elephants meandering across the plains, or a herd of buffalo at the river to drink. Sink into one of the comfortable chairs in the lounge area after a delicious lunch, and chat with fellow travelers about your morning adventures. Or enjoy an after dinner drink by the crackling fire and watch the evening wildlife activity by the river. Because this camp is intimate, and accommodates only a few guests at a time, Zungulila’s staff is able to focus on your needs, and will routinely go above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction. Whether you have dietary restrictions, an anniversary to celebrate, or a must-see list for game drives, the warm and attentive staff will make your experience a memorable one.

Tripadvisor comments Zungulila Bushcamp
What an honour to be the only guests in this slice of heaven in stunning surrounds on the edge of the wilderness. Understated luxury abounds, with wonderful hospitality and superb food- running themes across the Bushcamp Co portfolio. At the helm Mishek was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting, and an excellent guide on [our] wonderful walks. We were also lucky to spend hours in the presence of a wonderful range of wildlife, most notably the local pride of lions with their amazing cubs.

This camp was a perfect place to start our safari trip with The Bushcamp Company. It is beautifully decorated and has a rustic charm and a very nice peaceful feel to it. The tented rooms are gorgeous to stay in and you can really enjoy your siesta time after the morning safari from the deck. There is a fabulous outdoor shower and also plunge pool if it's too hot - which both look out into the wonderful wilderness. The camp is a nice size and looked after so well by the staff, who worked hard to even sweep the sand and keep the leaves out of the pathways, making it look so lovely all the time! The staff are kind and extremely attentive - a big thank you to Mishek, Sam, Stanley and those behind the scenes!
